New Nikon EDG Spotting Scopes
Mon, Feb 16, 2009
Every year the team from www.binoculars.com travels to the SHOT show to see the new products offered from the many optics companies we work with. Most years we see a handful of new products but this year I was blown away by one specific new release product – the new Nikon EDG Spotting Scopes
If you would have asked my opinion on a ultra-high end spotting scope in the larger objective size catagory, I would have said Swarovski, Zeiss or Kowa. That all changed when I saw the new Nikon EDG. I was lucky enough to see the new model at the Nikon booth, and was able to get an outdoor demonstration as well.
The very first thing you notice about the Nikon EDG is the slick new body design. It really looks amazing, but the best part comes when you put your eye up to the eyepiece. I have yet to look into a spotting scope eyepiece with such a large eye box. I felt like I was inside of the scope looking directly through as if the scope had become an extension of my eye.
The new Nikon EDG Spotting scopes are supposed to be released in the early spring of 2009 and are available in 85mm and 65mm apertures. I can’t wait to see what everyone will think of this new scope from Nikon.
I also look forward to getting more time with the scope to put it through its tests. Look for updates to this post when we get more time with this exciting new spotting scope.
