Leupold Yosemite Binoculars

The Leupold Yosemite binoculars have been one of my favorite series of binoculars since they arrived, and surprisingly they don’t get a lot of attention. They are an amazing value and fill a much needed niche in the binocular assortment. So many of you have asked for a binocular that had a lower magnification than the standard 8x and 10x powers found from every binoculars supplier on Earth. Let me tell you, the Leupold Yosemite binoculars are a joy to view with - let me tell you why I like these so much:
The Leupold Yosemite binoculars are available in both 6×30 and 8×30 models. While I really like both of them a lot, I am going to concentrate on why the 6×30 was such a great addition from Leupold. With its lower than average 6x magnification, the views are super steady. Even the steadiest of hands will have to deal with some image instability in an 8x or 10x binocular, even worse as you increase over 10x. At this lower 6x magnification, your view is ultra-steady and very comfortable to view through for a long period of time. For hiking on trails and nature walks where birds and other wildlife are at closer ranges to you, 6x magnification is plenty of magnification for observing. The image stability in these binoculars make them ideal for birding at closer ranges.
With its lower magnification, the Leupold Yosemite 6×30 has an enormous field of view of 420 ft. @ 1000 Yards. Let me tell you about a time I brought this binocular to a Nebraska Huskers football game. In Memorial Stadium a pair of binoculars is great to have along with you. Traditionally, for football games I will bring along my favorite Canon 10×30 Image Stabilized binoculars. The reason I love these so much for sporting events is the image stabilization feature. While watching the Huskers in the Leupold 6×30 Yosemite, the larger field of view was a huge bonus. I have never been able to watch a lineup, watch the ball snap, the QB fall back and throw a pass all with hardly any binocular movement at all. Then I was amazed how easy it was to follow a passed football all the way from QB to receiver in the binoculars field of view, a feat that is not visually pleasing in a standard 10x and over binocular.
I was talking to a customer who ordered a pair of the Leupold 6×30 binoculars for her daughter for birding. She is 12 years old and had struggled with using her mothers larger 8×42 binocular. Turns out these Yosemite binoculars also fill a great need for children’s binoculars. The more compact body design is easier to hold and the lower magnification makes them ideal for younger children to enjoy.
Priced under 100$, these binoculars are definetly in my top-picks for general, all purpose viewing binoculars. They are available in Black, Natural and even a new Pink Camo finish.
