Alpen Pink Series Binoculars – Supporting National Breast Cancer Foundation
Fri, Apr 3, 2009
Alpen Optics has released its new “Pink” series of binoculars. For every sale of this binocular, Alpen will make a donation to the NBCF National Breast Cancer Foundation.
“Pink is the color most associated with breast-cancer research,” says Vickie Gardner, vice president of Alpen Optics. “Our new line of Alpen Pink is more than just a pink binocular. With more than 40,000 Americans dying each year of breast cancer (400,000 worldwide), Alpen Optics has created its Pink binoculars to help focus on a cure, while delivering the best binocular for the best price in the marketplace.”
I was fortunate enough to get a hands-on look at the new Alpen 10×42 Pink Binocular. As a buyer of optics products, I am always looking for something unique, and I am not aware of any other quality pink colored binoculars. Maybe this color option will appeal to consumers looking for something different than the usual black-rubber armored or green camo binoculars found by everyone else. But to learn it also supports such a great cause, it was an easy decision to add this item to our assortment.
Is the binocular any good?
Here’s the greatest news. Yes. Its actually very good. Alpen is not a well known brand in optics, they don’t have the monster advertising budgets like a Nikon or Bushnell for example. But one look through any Alpen binocular, spottingscope or riflescope and you will see where the money is spent – in quality optics.
The binocular is priced under $200 and features some very out-of-the-norm features in this price point. The first thing is these binoculars are Phase-Coated. A phase-coated binocular greatly improves image brightness and quality, giving the viewer higher contrast, more vivid images. This alone makes this binocular a great choice.
The Alpen 10×42 Pink binoculars are also completely waterproof and fogproof. They also feature twist-up rubber eyecups, a feature not always found in this price range. Backed by Alpen’s Limited Lifetime Warranty, these binoculars are sure to be a hit for consumers looking for something a little different. And you can also enjoy your purchase is helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I think this binocular is a win/win for everyone.
